Mezzo-soprano Cherry Duke has performed over 60 principal roles in opera and musical theatre throughout the US and abroad, including the world premiere, tour, and original cast album of the acclaimed 2012 opera, DOG DAYS. Since 2016, she has been a regular soloist with El Paso Opera and the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. For El Paso Opera, Cherry Duke played Old Lady and Blair Daniels in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, Flora in LA TRAVIATA, Julia Child in BON APPÉTIT, Hansel in HANSEL AND GRETEL, Third Lady in THE MAGIC FLUTE, and Tisbe in LA CENERENTOLA, in addition to being a soloist in EPO’s MOZART BY MOONLIGHT concerts. In 2019, she portrayed Dolly Levi in the UTEP Dinner Theatre’s production of HELLO, DOLLY! Last summer, Cherry debuted at Central City Opera as Olga Olsen in STREET SCENE. Upcoming performances this season include Gertrude in ROMÉO ET JULIETTE Julia Child in BON APPÉTIT, both with El Paso Opera. Cherry Duke has served on the voice faculty and as the Director of Opera at The University of Texas at El Paso since 2015, and she is currently the Director of Resident Artists for El Paso Opera.
